I have heard of so many people who leave strange things to charities or people they briefly met. I am so curious as to what they were thinking when they made such a decision. So maybe I will ask the living, if you created your will right now, what would you leave to whom, (sister, brother, etc).

Generally, people leave things in their will to make sure that those who will hear the case understand How THEY want their property to br given to upon their deaths.

SO .. saying this .. there are REASONS that one EXCLUDES some people from their wills -- it can include the fact that these individual(s) who may be blood relatives have ABUSED that individual in some way ... whether it is physical, mental, emotional, financial, verbal or other form of abuse (which includes stealing from the person, burglarizing their residence, assaulting them, etc).

They will leave parts of their property to those who treated them with RESPECT and DIGNITY befitting their basic HUMANITY. IF there are no blood relatives that they feel "DESERVE" the honor of getting their property after their death .. then yes, they will leave property to a favorite charity or other(s) as they so deem.

I don't have much to my name, so I don't have an actual will. I do however have legal documents in place to ensure that the most precious thing in my life, my daughter, will be cared for by my parents if anything were to ever happen to me. Don't forget that wills and such are not always just about the money. If you don't specify who you want to care for your kids, the courts can decide and it's not always who you want it to be.
