swimming is a great way to stay in shape! something that may help is to vary the distances you go without taking a break, and the speeds you do them at. try swimming fast for a couple, rest for like 30 seconds, then do an average pace for a few, then speed up again. changing your speed or distances up will keep your body from getting used to what you are doing and it will increase how many calories you burn! so change up how you swim your laps every now and then and you will stay in shape!

Well I'm 16 now and swim 3 out of the 4 seasons...it's a lot easier to pace yourself and do sprints within sets then to count a certain number of laps, although swimming is a great way to exercise because it's a full body work-out.

Try doing sets like: 5 x 50s on the 45 each or 4 x 100 on the 1:30 each, and continue to make these sets. Good luck! ;-)

Its a little over a half mile ( a mile is 32). swimming is a great all around cardio exercise and works tons of different muscle at he same time, and there is no impact on your joints.

It's definitely good enough to stay in shape, but just for the heck of it i would add a little bit at a time
