I was told because I buzz my head, that even as a female, if I were to shave it down to the skin, my scalp would "scar", and I would be liklier to bald in the future. True? I really would like to shave it down to the bare skin, but not if it will effect me in the future.

Absolutely FALSE! I have been shaving my head on and off for 20 years, and I can still grow a full, thick head of hair! I am a 38 year old guy who first shaved is head in 1986 at age 18, when NOBODY except skinheads had a shaved head (and I wasn't a skinhead). I shaved my head again this past October, and I still have to shave it everyday if I want that sleek, bald look!

On the contrary, shaving your head with shaving cream and a razor every once in a while is GOOD for your scalp, as it exfoliates and gets rid of dead skin, oily buildup, and scaly flakes. Shaving the scalp is VERY healthy for the scalp, and the feeling a a razor shaving your scalp smooth is an exhilarating experience that everyone should have at least once in their lives!

I think who ever told you this must have been messing with you. You can shave your head and the hair will grow back and even if you do cut your scalp you might not get a scar. If you do get a scar though, your hair will grow over it most likely. Unless you are already ggoing bald, your hair will grow back.

Well, if that were true wouldn't most of us ladies have hairless legs? I would love to not have to shave my legs, but as much as I do and as long as I've been doing it, the darn stuff keeps growing back...sheesh. I don't think shaving has anything to do with baldness.

Not true! I had my head shaved when I had chemo. Two years since my hair has regrown with no scaring of the scalp and no sign of thinning.

No. They only way your head would "scar" is if you cut, burned, injured yourself. Baldness comes from heredity (on your mother's side) or really realy poor nutrition or severe illness. Where did you get your information?

NO- just don't cut yourself- scars don't grow hair.
I would let a "real" old fashioned barber do it for you the first few times. If you live near a military base, even better.
