No addict is ever cured, they are always recovering--one day at a time. The man should call his doctor, and see what the doctor recommends. This could mean detox, or some sort of med to make the cocaine withdrawal easier. It may involve therapy, or any other number of things. But he can be a successful recovering addict.

Cocaine is a much harder drug than pot or prescription medications (at least most). It's reported to have an addictive effect on the user that is everlasting -- meaning there will always been that "need" for the chemical (even for those who seek treatment, and quit using it). So yes, he can stop using the drug, but it will be a long process, and he will need a great deal of will power and support so he doesn't go back to using.

As an addict, one is never cured of the addiction, but over time they learn to control the urge to use. It take dedication and patients. I suggest looking at www.na.org. They helped my sister... she has been clean for over 10 years now so, I know it can happen, but only when the person is ready to make a commitment never to touch the drug again.

If he wants to, he can be a "recovering" addict. Once an addict, the term recovering never leaves you, because recovering from drugs and alcohol is a life-long process. But absolutely, he can maintain sobriety. Treatment at a rehab center is wise. They can teach you the components of addiction. This is helpful to understand. Also, they teach coping and sobriety maintainence skills if the patient wants to learn.

cocaine is a mild addicting drug but the addiction can be beaten. There are way more addicting drugs out there. Depending on how long he has been using it and how motivated he is to quit. It will be a struggle but i think with professional help it is possible.

He will never be cured as there is always a chance of relapse -- but everyday RECOVERY is possible. He cannot do it alone he needs a support system like family, friends or Narcotics Anonymous - encourage him to seek help

Sure! Either goto rehab, goto jail, call up that show "Intervention" (They'll goto his house and have his family and friends intervene) or just lock him in a room for a few months. That will stop his "addiction" But of cource you can't MAKE him stop doing it.. It's like the old saying goes. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make em DRINK!
