When standing watch, the time in the log is written in as 0000, not 2400. The previous watch-stander was relieved at 2330 so he/she's not there to write 2400 in the first place. You will never find anything written 2400 in any official log book since there is no such time. Do this experiment...set your watch to the 24 hr setting and watch what it does at right after 2359.59. You won't see 2400. Not even for a nanosecond. You want to know the reason for that? It's because the time 2400 doesn't exist.

Both are are the same. They signify 12:00 midnight. The Difference lies in the date. I will cite an example:
January 1, 2007 2400
January 2, 2007 0000
In the above example, both refer to the same instant. Assume that a soldier's guard duty ends at midnight. When he signs out, he'll write 2400 (not 0000). Another soldier who is to replace him to take over the guard duty will sign in and write 0000 (not 2400).

2400 there is no such time as 0000 as everything is measureable that's the exact nature of science ! To the second it is quantifiable, measureable and exact it needs to be so for communication and recording purposes. If a soldier was to be relived of his post at 0000 hrs effectively hes never being relieved may as well be 000000000000000000000000000 hrs. However 2400 hours last for the minute only or to be more precise a second.
