Strep throat normally is treated with a 10-day amoxicillin (antibiotic) treatment. If it goes untreated, it can lead to worse illnesses. There may be over-the-counter things you can take to relieve the symptoms, but it is not going to go away without antibiotics.
Amoxicillin is very cheap (only about $10 for a 10-day supply). If you could call your doctor and ask him to phone the scrip into the pharmacy, that would be great--explain that you don't have the money for an office visit, but you know you have it because you've been exposed to it by other people.

If you have strep throat, you need antibiotics, which you need to have a prescription for. Sorry, but without antibiotics you risk getting a lethal fever (brain damage, paralysis and probably death).
Don't play games because you think you can't afford it. Go to a free clinic if you have to.
If you really want a natural cure, try moldy oranges or moldy bread. Penicillin is derived from that type of mold. However, the cure may kill you too... Good luck with that.

next time you are near the mexico border make a trip across to a pharmacy and pick up a bottl of 500mg Amoxcillina or a close derivitive to that name. It is amoxicillin. That is what the doc always prescribed for me when I got Strep. I had it about every 6 months from the age of 13-18. The salt water gargle will help. Hot tea with lemon and honey soothes throughout the day. Keep up the gargling and taking tylanol. get plenty of rest.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

If you have strep throat you *must* see the doctor. You need penicillin to erradicate the bacteria. If left untreated, the illness can result in rheumatic fever. Rheumatic fever can cause damage to the heart, joints, the brain and spinal cord, and the skin.

gargle with salt water or listerine. alcohol and salt create an unfavorable environment for bacteria. I would also take extra vitmin C and garlic tablets. Vitamin C is known ton enhance the ability of the body to fight infection and garlic has antimicrobial properties. Vitamin C should be taken with meals. also get plenty of sleep, fluids.

don't eat or drink something sweet. this will irritate your throat more. gargle with warm water and salt.if you don't feel like coughing then don't cough (you understand what I'm saying?) because this will create friction in your throat causing it to aggravate the condition.
p.s. strepsils (or any form of candy coated medicine for sore throat) will bring no good.
