i have a red male and a yellow female and i didn't realize that they were mating until i added a female blue capped cordon bleu to the cage and they were aggressive toward her so i removed her and realized that may be the reason. now i added a basket and the grass that i keep for them to play with they started to make a nest so i added some other stuff for them to use. the male Preston is dilligently making the nest while Penellopee the female stands guard but how do i know when they breed. prestons is very dark now and she as well and i check daily for eggs but none as of yet. also i want to get a male red faced gouldian to add with melody my cordon bleu, will they cross breed cause i don't want that, i wasn't even thinking about breeding when i got the female for the male i just knew they came together to the store and when my european died i wanted to get preston another companion so he would not be depressed anymore. help!

This is an easy question! The female will sit for hours knitting little booties and picking out baby bird names and the male will be out drinking and bragging to the other male birds.

I would wait to see if there are fertile eggs. You can candle the eggs after 5 days of incubation to see if they are fertile.

Please, search the internet on breeding and what foods to feed while they are raising the chicks. I recently lost my male gouldian while he was raising chicks with his mate.

Try the National Finch and Softbill Society.

A giant white glob of goo will shoot directly into your eye and it will sting like a son of a b*tch then wash it out for three minutes so your eyeball doesn't get pregnant.
