Qui-Gon Jinn is a character from Star Wars Episode 1.

He trained Obi-Wan Kenobi in the ways of the force until he was killed by Darth Maul. Just before he died he asked Obi-Wan to train Anikin Skywalker, the boy Qui-Gon thought to be the chosen one. It turns out that Anikin was the chosen one. Unfortunetly, Anikin turned to the darkside and became Darth Vader.

Sorry for the SW history lesson. I just love star wars so much.

Qui-Gon may have a chineese meaning thought.Another starwars character name, dooku, is chineese for poision.(it might be japanees, i'm can't remember) And I have heard that Vader sounds simalar to the german word for father ("No Luke, I am your father!")

Hope it help, LLAP

In the first movie Yoda and the others didn't see Anakin becoming Darth Vader but Yoda did say that he had a bad feeling about him but he couldn't pinpoint what it was. Then in "Revenge of the Sith" after Anakin becomes Darth Vadar and Luke & Leia's mother dies after giving birth, Yoda tells Obi-Wan that Qui-gon's prophecy was not complete and that it would be Anakin's off spring (which was Luke & Leia) that would bring balance and piece to the rebellion.
