How do I make a long distance call from Minnesota to Texas?

He told me his number. I've tried it, but it does not seem to get me anywhere-

Lot of help all of you are. Or at least you two... He just contacted me and said that I needed to dial 1 before the area code and number :P That detail would have helped.. And it was what I was looking for. But thank you for wasting your life :P

Pick up the phone. Punch in the number. Speak (you may have to shout, as it's a long way). Listen. Repeat speak and listen. Put down the phone.

it's best to use the telephone.....area code first and then the phone #.....
