When I served my first two years I loved it, but after I finished my schooling and finally reached my first actual command things would take an abrupt turn for the worse. I loved my job as an ET, loved seeing 17 different parts of the SW Pacific, I could put up with the miniscule BS that happened from day to day, but then something happened to me... and the worst part of it is that I stood up for myself and others and I got burned pretty bad by my chain of command. There is no honor in the US Navy.... so yeah, I hate the enlisted life because you are unable to prove your case to anyone. FTN

I did hate enlisted life for a few reasons heres why.

1. its a contract, you just cant simply quit. and it can be hard to
change jobs in the military. but if thats the reason why your
hating enlisted life right now then contact your career
counselor.

2. if you got stationed somewhere you dont like, to bad you got
to wait for your next set of orders. normally 2 years or more
sometimes you can swap orders, but its uncommon.

3. 30 days off a year can suck, some people need more time
off to enjoy themselves. I now have a job that requires
me to be away from home, for weeks at a time, but i also get
about 180 days a year off.

4. somepeople find it hard to be in a realationship when they
have to spend so much time away. I honestly got out of the
military because i could not see my self finding a signifcant
other while being in the military. Now that Im married, the
military sounds like a good idea again.

Whatever you do right now, i suggest not messing up to get kicked out, tuff it out and you will get rewarded in the end.

weather or not its a GI bill, VA loan, onbase priveleges or the fact once your a civilian you will have a better chance of getting a better job cause of your military background.

I think she might correct, you're just trying to stir up an argument. The U.S. military has been voluntary for many years. Anyone who enlists and then whines has no one to blame but themselves.

Everyone hates enlisted life. It's a duty if you choose it, it's not a life. Those men in Iraq are doing their duty. They hate it, but someone has got to do it. They were husbands, and fathers and boy friends one day and a soldier the next.
they left their life and families.
Because they felt it was their duty, and kept their word. Millions of us did the same, and we hated it, but if we didn't there wouldn't be any America.

No, it's all about how you handle life. Military life is not for everyone, it's tough but very rewarding.

no. my boyfriend seems to love it. sure he complains now and then but in the end he'll tell you that he'll never regret the choice he made and can't see himself not doing what he's doing right now.
