It helps a lot if you can read music. If you can the producer can just hand you sheet music , for you to read and sing.

If you cant read music , then he needs to get someone to play it and try to teach it that way.

Either way can work if you can quickly pick up the melody and words to the song.

Yes, Yes, and another million times: YES!

It is absolutely necessary. Fortunately, music theory is easy to learn. First, join a choir. I swear, I did it when I was seven. I am now in high school, and I know music theory better than anyone: including my teacher!

I would suggest buying a music theory book at a beginning level. Any music shop sells loads of them. Even a piano music theory book would work well (it is still the same theory)

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/jaSVf

yes...although you do not NEED to, you will be looked down upon and ridiculed for it, so I STRONGLY suggestion you take basic theory. Very much. because that knowledge could be applied to any other music, its universal.

Althought you may sing at a professional level/skill, but for you to have 'singing' as a profession/career, you have to know notes, and all pros must have some sort of backround. Ever seen "DRUMLINE"?

no, not necessarily. it just depends on what kind of singing you want to do. if you have a natural talent and can't read music, there are certainly other ways to go about learning songs..
