crates are place were you put ur dog u can get them in all diff sizes (sepending on how big your dog is)there usually plastic with a metal woven front that locks. poeple do this so when there away for the day they can leave the dog in there and lock it so the dog doesnt wreck anyhing or pee on the carpet while there gone. You can also use them for transporting your dog so there not all over your vechicle..Personally i dont like them i feel sorry for them i there its alsmost like jail but thatd wat the are for

crates are large cages the dog stays in when home alone and to sleep at night . if introduced well the dog loves it . there is always clean thick bedding and the door stays open all the time you are home and its NEVER used to punish the dog in. i have 4 great danes and 3 crates and a plane bed with out a crate and the dogs all run to get a crate and the last one there has to take the plain bed its quite funny.they feel the crates are their "dens" they hide their goodies there

Some people say "crate" as a catch all word for different things. There are wire cages with metal bottoms, kennel cabs that are made of a thick durable plastic and have ventilation around the back and sides and a door. I prefer a sturdy Kennel Cab like a VariKennel for "crate training". They come in all sizes.

Not just people from the usa lol.Crates are a good aid in helping with training esp with pups during house training. They range in different heights, and most come with a plastic slide out tray at the bottom[which makes cleaning them easier].They can also be used for your dog to sleep in if it prefers, while you go out if you have a destructive dog, etc. No dog should be left in them for more then 5hours,apart from at night.Crates are a training aid not to be abused or to punish your dog with.My 4yr old jr x yorkie girl, loved her crate when she was a puppy and would happily go in there any time of day,she had a set bedtime of 10.30pm and she never complained once.My other dog was not so keen, some dogs take to it better then others.I would recommend them to anyone looking for a training aid,but as long as there not people willing to shut there dogs away all day in it.

Crates are safe places for the dog to be when you cant look after them ,especially when they are puppys ,it helps with toilet training because dogs dont like to mess their sleeping area ,i have one for my dog he goes in it at night ,i make it really comfortable with pillows and blankets and his teddy which he loves to cuddle (or kill depending on mood) i can say cause when i got him from his breeder he loves it cause he was in one when i picked him up ,in a few weeks i wont use it anymore ,i will only use it in the car ,my dog oliver will often go in the crate in the day on his own away from people to get a bit of peace ,hope that helps .

Crates are the little cages with doors on the front. They are the best thing to happen to dogs who are indoors. They keep them safe and in one place. It becomes their "safe place" where they do to feel secure. Also it helps when you are potty training them. Dogs don't like to potty in their own space so it helps there too. Petmate makes them and they're sold at walmart, target and kmart and in pet stores.

Crates are used to help potty training and as the dog gets older it serves as a "safe place" for the dog.

a crate is like a cage that you carry your small dog in while you are traveling. especially when you are on a plane.

first answer is right. The idea is to give your dog a safe place to go, and when you are not home he can be shut in safely - as long as you return after a couple of hours or so and not leave him too long!
