I have a dog and he is two years old. I have an absolutely terrible problem though with him and a crate. I have adopted him a couple months ago from a young lady. The dog is absolutely terrified of the crate. As soon as I put him in he scratches at the door, cries loudly, barks, yelps, and digs furiously at the bottom of the cage floor. I feel terrible that I have to put him in there, but its the only way that he can stay safe when we are busy or gone from the house. I don't know if he was treated badly in it when he was younger or just never introduced to it. Are there any training methods or websites I can go to, to help him easily take to the crate and not look at it as a prison? I know they say a crate is like a den to a dog, but he acts like its a refinery or something. We have another dog and she stays in that crate so well. She just sits there and acts as if it is just her second home. Anyways any advice or suggestions I really need some help....thank you for any suggestions!

Here's some advice:
Start teaching him to stay alone by letting him spend short periods of time in his crate while your at home. Praise him when he is quiet.

you have comforted her so much she is trying to manipulate you and let her out you have to be strong and make her stay in it or you will have a bigger problem. Be tough mommy
