Christians:why do some of us believe that you do not need baptism to be saved?

The bible cleary tells us what baptism is for.It is for the forgiveness of sin Acts 2:38;Colossians2:11-12;John3:5 I think you get the point.Remember you have to use all of Gods word.

Yes we are saved by grace (which by the way is gift)but what is that gift?That gift was his sons death and the only way to recieve that gift/grace is to be united in his death and that only through baptism.Romans6:3-6.As for the thief on the cross Jesus was not dead buried and ressurected as of this time so baptism was not require at this time.

Here is an example:if you hit lotto you have to go to claim your prize where they tell you to go not where you choose.Who are we to decide how to be saved.Gods grace is a gift that needs to claim in the manner he chooses and he chooses :faith,repentence,confession and baptism.

Did Christ not publicly get baptized?

Public baptism is showing the outward knowledge of the inward acceptance of Christ.

If at all possible one should be baptized with water, just as Christ was baptized. What happen when Christ got baptized. As Christ came up from the water... God said.. "This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.".. the dove (Holy Spirit) descended down from the heavens... all three were present.

If water baptism was a requirement for salvation you would be going against God's law which states that salvation is by grace alone. Ephesians 2:8-9. If you try to attain salvation by your own merit the scriptures warn that you are under a curse to obey the entire law of God perfectly in order to attain salvation. No man can accomplish this. Salvation is obtained by faith through God's given grace and mercy.

Here is a typical example. Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would enter into paradise with Jesus that day. It's obvious that this thief was not water baptized.

Water baptism is *NOT* a requirement for salvation.

Baptism is not for the forgiveness of sins, but rather it points to forgiveness through God's son. Therefore new Christians would want this rite performed. You also err in the mention of John 3:5 as mention of "water and the spirit" would have been prior to his baptism by John. Nicodemus would not have known what Jesus was talking about, the learned person that he was.

The only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ. Ask Him to come into your heart, believe that He died on the cross for you, confess your sins. The act of baptism has nothing to do with whether or not you are saved. It is simply a way to let others know of your decision and to make it "official". But the minute you ask Jesus to come into your heart (and really mean it) you are saved, there is nothing else you NEED to do. Salvation is a gift.

Jesus was very clear when He put forth the only requirement for salvation:
John 3: The Words of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh)
3. "Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
4. Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
5. Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."
6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
16. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

you will note that it does not say that "all who believeth not or are not baptised....."

At Pentecost the believers went out onto the balcony and preached to the crowd. The people believed what they said and they asked "What must we do?" The Apostles said "REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED" Now for you Bible only people who spout out "It's not in the Bible" every chance you get why is it that you cannot see this! People that believe in God should be baptised. When you ask Jesus to be in your heart that is kinda like a secret. But then when you do a baptism you just told the world that you are now a Christian!

WHAT does the Bible say about Infant Baptist???

NOTHING!

The Bible says "And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? *And Philip said, IF THOU BELIEVEST with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and THEY went down both into the water, BOTH Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him." Acts 8:36-38

*Notice that in the Catholic Bible and the NIV this verse is missing altogether. Also notice that the Bible records verse number 36... and then skips right to verse 38. Even the number "37" has been removed. The reason the Catholic church removed this verse from their Bible and was instrumental in having it removed from the NIV is mainly because this verse proves that a person must first BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God BEFORE being baptized. An infant cannot make this statement, so rather than change their doctrine, they try and change the Bible to save face. Didn't they know that God's children would sooner or later find out about this? Obviously not.

This "bogus doctrine" leads itself to other problems as well. Take for example the UNBiblical doctrine called "confirmation" in the Catholic church. How can Catholic dogma state that people receive the Holy Spirit during confirmation?

"Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, and be BAPTIZED every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall RECEIVE the GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST." Acts 2:38

Seems rather plain what the order of events are here. REPENT... be BAPTIZED... and then RECEIVE the gift of the Holy Ghost. Now it is true that all Catholic children are baptized at infancy, this is most definitely before confirmation. However, how is it possible for the Catholic receiving confirmation to ever gone into repentance before baptism? An infant cannot do this, plain and simple. It is impossible to effectively baptize a person without their consent, let alone their knowledge. If you are a Catholic, let me ask you this... "Do you remember being baptized?" I don't remember, nor do I recall repenting before being baptized. So how is it possible for me to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost at confirmation when I didn't follow the method God's Word stipulates as the order of events needed for reception?

Baptism is not something to be taken lightly. It is not just some "ritual". It is a VERY graphic public proclamation of a life changing repentative faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of ones life. To diminish it to some ritual that is "snuck" in without the knowledge of the one receiving is nothing more than a demonic form of "mind control". The infant comes to adulthood and "entertains" the though of baptism later in life because of the simple will of God gently tugging on the heart. However, after "realizing" that this "ritual" took place already, they may walk on without giving it a second thought.

Again, baptism is no "minor" ritual to be toyed with and entertained as a "fad" or a "fix all". Some will attempt to approach baptism today as a way to "stop all the problems" in their life, or to remove guilt. This is not new. They see a bleek horizon and feel if they "jump in the water" they will be spared the wrath approaching. John the Baptist dealt with some like this as well.

Matthew 3:7,8 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

John wasn't going to allow them to sneak in and be baptized without meeting the necessary conditions God had set up in advance for baptism. WHY SHOULD YOU?

After I read the REAL verses # 37 of Acts chapter eight. I realized a person cannot be baptized unless they repented and believe with all their heart, that Jesus Christ is the Lord. This always made me wonder how it was possible for them to baptize me when I was an infant. I couldn't make any decisions for myself at that time. I couldn't even feed myself without help, let alone repent or even make a proclamation of my personal faith in Jesus. The Bible made perfect sense to me here. How can a person be baptized as an infant? Not only is the infant incapable of knowing who Jesus is. The people holding the baby don't know who the infant will grow to become. So how can they make a life changing decision or even speak for this infant as an adult?

The church of Rome also goes so far as to add their dogmatic assumptions in the following verses, stating these passages prove babies can be baptized...

* Acts 2:39, "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."
* Acts 22:16, "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."

They say these passage prove that baptism is a universal command and not restricted to adults. So, my question is this. HOW can an infant know the Lord has CALLED them, and how can an infant ARISE and the CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD?

Plain and simple. The Pagan church of old baptized babies, and as prophecy declared, the WHore of Babylon in Rome will do this as well.

People believe what is in their hearts. Different religions teach different things. And if there's anything I can't stand, it's the self-appointed preachers who think they're holier than thou. You can interpret the Bible any way you wish, but please don't push your beliefs on others who believe differently.
