Last few days I have had the sore throat, but I haven't been developing any other sort of symptoms. It has been waking me up due to it being sore, but other than that, nothing else.

Sometimes this kind of sore throat is caused by post nasal drip or from dry air. You can use a saline nasal spray to prevent it from turning into a secondary infection from being in the throat over a length of time. Getting the saline spray or even gargleing with saltwater or taking an antihistaminelike benadryl can prevent that from happening. Also the air in the house may be dry from the heat in this cold weather causing you to have the sore throat. you can also put containers of water over the heat source in the bedroom where you spend most the time and maybe sleep with your mouth open. This can help. I just had this and mine got worse, I only felt bad for 3 days. I took advil gargled used nasal spray and ate chicken soup and took Vit. C just for the symptoms and to prevent it from getting worse. Good luck.

It is probably just a mild infection. If it persists for more than a week or gets severe, consult your doctor

Drink a lot more water, and sleep with a humidifier in your room. That should take care of it.
