There are so many breeds it could be. If you post a picture of your dog i'm sure people would be able to help you more. Or you can ask your vet when you take him in to get an exam and vaccines. Good Luck, and have fun with your new dog!!!

My friend has a large furry dog who is black with tan markings. We are guessing he is either a tibetan mastiff mix or a lab/shepherd mix, it is hard to tell, and we will never know for sure.

Black and tan is a common colors for lots of breeds. Either describe better with the dog's size, whether the fur is silky or fluffy or curly, what the tail and ears are like, etc OR post a picture and you'll get better answers.

Good luck with you new dog. :)

Best way to find out is to take it to the vet. They will be able to at least get a very good idea. Besides, you will need to take a new puppy to the vet soon for shots and vaccinations and to get spayed or neutered.

I think i need a little more details. But i'll help anyway.
It could be a:
>Miniature Pinscher
>Miniature Dashund
>German Shepherd
>Yorkshire Terrier

You could ask the vet when you and your dog go for a visit.

Rottweiler or Doberman mix if it's going to be a large dog.
Miniature Pinscher or Manchester Terrier mix if it's going to be a small dog.

Could be a long haired chihuahua mix or pom mix. They often have the markings like a dobie or rottie and have long hair. If it is a large breed pup, my answer would not apply.

The easiest way to tell is to take it to the vet, but I would guess a mix of German Shepherd, Rottweiler, or Doberman, and probably something else.
