I'm no doctor, but it probably works 4 out of 10 times. My advice is to ask your doctor or someone you know who went to medical school. :)

It definitely isn't something fun to go through, so don't do it if you don't HAVE to! I say get the back brace. I had it. I was told to wear it 20 out of 24 hours, and I didn't listen. I took it off all of the time, and basically cheated myself! I found out when I was 17 that I had to have the back fusion because my back got so bad.. I was in the upper 50 degrees. The surgery was a very hard thing to go through, very painful. But in the end, I'm 21 now and doing just fine. I have back pain more then I did before I had the surgery, but it's bearable. I would wait if your doctor says that you can, and try to make it better before you have to go to the extremes. Maybe get a 2nd or 3rd opinion from some other doctors! Goodluck!

No. Scoliosis is usually recommended after 40-50 degrees. A lot of people wait until it's farther advanced. Surgery would correct perhaps 30 degrees..give or take some...so do the math.

There are certain types of non-surgical treatments such as Spinecor which does give stable correction as well. There are peer reviewed studies well documenting such findings.
