Dear friend,
It is definitely not bad. Incense sticks are lit only to make the atmosphere pure and pleasant. It's good scent not only purifies the surrounding air, but also our mind. As you know our sense organs are more powerful than our body, we need such things to keep our sense organs in good health so as to help keep our body and mind healthy.

It's not a question of sin. What purpose does it serve. Insense isn't a drug and it can't get you high or send you into a comma. You can't smoke it, so it wont give you lung canncer. It doesn't do anything healthy for you. So why would you do it if you're not doing it for a spiritual purpose. They used incense in the old testament of the bible but they didn't use it in the new testament. It's a question of what it does for you.

Happykid is right, burning white sage will help cleanse the area of negativities. I would also suggest along with the sage, ceder and lavender. Now because you mentioned the bible, I'm going to assume you're a Christian. I would therefore recommend praying to your God to help give you peace of mind and taking some olive oil and anointing the door posts in your house. Now if you are having problems sleeping, I'd suggest having a drink before bed (like wine, not hard liquor) just enough to relax you. If its real serious, go to the doctor and get a proscription for a sleep aid. You might also want to try going to sleep without having your television on. TV can disrupt your REM cycle.

Pagans and Wiccans also use soap, deodorant (well, some), perfume, laundry powder - oh, and we eat food too and wear clothes. Does that make any of these things unGodly? I'm also sure that many Christians meditate, and there would be many Pagans that don't. Incense is simply a way of generating an aroma, no big deal.

Absolutely not. It's fine to use incense. The Catholic church uses incense (Frankincense & Myrh actually) when blessing the alter at a high mass, or the Holy Eucerist (or the Euceristic Feast), which is the consecration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Even in the days of Jesus, when they went into the temple, they burned insense; Jesus was also given Frankincense and Myrh as a gift from one of the three wise men who had traveled to see him after his birth. So yes, it's fine to use it.

Hmm... Gold, frankincense and myrhh... two of which are types of incence...

"...a pleasing odor unto God..."

I wouldn't say so, but then again, look at the source... might want to ask a Fundie.

The way I see it is God (Divinity, whatever ya wanna call It) made all this stuff that smells nice when you burn it, why wouldn't it be allowed to enjoy?

I honestly don't see why it would matter. It's just like lighting candles to freshen up a room or something...

Why would it be a problem to meditate while burning incense? Christians are allowed to do both and are often encouraged to do so. Meditation is a form of prayer or soul searching and incense was offered to Jesus when He was born.

Well, Catholics use it all the time.

And there's nothing wrong with meditating, either.
