My husband bought a canvas painting that is 51"x 39". I was wondering how I am suppossed to frame this. Keep in mine I don't know anything about framing, but would appreciate any input anyone could give me.

If you don't want to take it to Michael's or some local framing gallery, get thee to your local lumber yard and buy some molding that looks good to you. Since it's a painting, you won't want it under glass anyhow. Just get more molding than you will need and start cutting. The hardware department at the lumber yard will have "corner connectors" and the people there will show you where they are once you tell them what you are trying to do.

Unless you know a very good carpenter you'd be in way over your head trying to make a frame for this painting. 51" is over 4 feet long most craft stores like Jo Anns and Michaels will make a beautiful frame for this painting which undoubtedly cost your husband a few bucks ..............
