Depends on what she looks like.......I can listen to her mouth if I'm getting some of it later

For me its the she says it--in the context of everything she says. But then again that may be one of the reasons I haven't been much of a dater (I'm still young though). Maybe datable guys don't care what she says but are definitely *listening*. But its my observation that those aren't the most sensitive guys, if that's genuinely a value for females.

If the question of sensitivity is a question for her, she probably doesn't go for poets anyway, so I'd probably keep talking until she realized I wasn't interested.

Except what am I saying? When do I talk to girls?

But seriously, calling me a baby is a definite turn off, because she wants to mother me and I'm at a point where I need to define myself as an adult. Maybe if I were 40 I could understand what she means by it, if anything at all. Of course, there are probably other things I could understand more signficantly that she might also say instead, if I were 40 and we were having a conversation.

Reconsidering, or taking a new angle: its far better for a female to give complements, and guys tend to be very literal, so using those words is very likely to rub him the wrong way, sometimes even if she is being cute and means well. Does she need to say it, is she being affectionate? Did you establish something of an understanding before it was said? Do you have a little private world together? What are you doing on a date with a baby? If you are on a date, and the date is agreeable, why would you call him a baby? Does that show consideration for what he contributes to the situation?

...

I don't think I would usually have that kind of connection (of a little private world of understanding) on a first date, but then again I'm not the typical guy. I'd say there would have to be a lot of other "plus factors" going before I would feel committed to a second date. Hypothetically speaking. In practice I might be more vulnerable, and at the same time more dependant--doesn't mean the second date would be good for me necessarily, but then again, sometimes mothering does do some good.

Of course I agree that it doesn't speak well for the female's interest in the male.

The context in which she said it means everything. If it was a flirty joke then all is well. If she was really serious, I think Id have to forget about her.

I would think that if she thought he was a baby, then SHE wouldn't WANT to go out with him again.

That means he's complaining about the way you act.

OR. . . .

He was being sarcastic.

So, depending on whch way he said it, it could be he would probably not or would go out with you again.

You could always ask him out.

IF she sort of begged me to go out again.

Why do you ask? Do you want him to?
