not too long after she was killed that one man woke up from a coma that he had been in for years and thought to be a vegetable?

But, that same man died not long after. I'll see if I can find a link. Don't get me wrong, I think her husband was a lying piece of you-know-what, and I felt terrible for her parents, but all the same.... And, Laci up there is right.

I can't find anything right now; if I do, I'll e-mail it to you.

I was excited when I read of the two that woke from a comas following her death.

I had prayed about Terri Schiavo. She was in an abusive situation in the hospital. I don't think it was wrong to take the feeding tube away. If God wanted to, she would have been able to eat on her own. I don't think they did stimulating exercises like cardiovascular, that would have helped stimulate her mind. In the autopsy, her brain had shrunk.

What is wrong is if someone causes death, like put poison into some ones veins.

But I back up the President 100% that if we err, it should be on the side of life.

This was up to to her husband. I don't judge him in it. He may have made the best decision. I think she was happy to go to heaven finally.

Hmm.... I guess it is all about proving yourself right, not what was really going on. The autopsy proved that Terry Schiavo had too much brain damage to be doing the things that her parents claimed.

But you're only interested in your own smugness, not the tragedy that all the chaos created. I only hope that your loved ones are allowed the dignity to make these kinds of decisions without interference from the US Congress and the national news media.

Laci--I would assume your brain wouldn't be mushed up after weeks of dehydration? I remember hearing about a woman that wrote a book about her experience in a vegetative state from the same brain injury. Her brain was affected in the same spots as Terri's, but they gave her therapy and so she got better.

And by the way, if the only way a person is going to die is through starvation and dehydration, they don't deserve to die.

It's not like she was even on artificial life support. All they had connected to her was water and food tubes. That's not artificial by any means. Everyone needs to be fed. Some kids with severe handicap or retardation issues are the same way, but they are pushed around in wheelchairs all the time. They are completely unresponsive to the world. I've seen it. But if you were to say anything about them being euthanised, you'd probably get cussed out. Views are always subjective, it's sad.

Terri Schiavo was not in a coma. She was in a permanent vegetative state. They are two very different things.

I've had a problem understanding why people wanted Teri Schiavo dead. They argue that she was basically brain dead and so should die. My problem with that is this: so what? At that point why not allow her parents some peace and the joy of taking care of her if they wanted. It would have made them so happy. To me it was more about the parents than Teri. Wouldn't it have been kinder to not break a mothers heart - Teri wouldn't have known or cared either way.

When they did the autopsy on Terri Schiavo, her brain was literally mush.

Which man woke up? How long was he out? What circumstances were there?

Terri Schiavo's autopsy proved that she would have never woke up. Her brain was literally mush. I can't believe any *reasonable* person wanting to live like that.

See here's my thing, if someone says they don't want to be kept alive artificially then I wouldn't keep them alive that way. I wouldn't want to be. Its all up to the person though. If they didn't say one way or another then they should be kept alive.
