I was thinking about having a romantic dinner for my husband on Valentines Day, but I don't know what to cook for him.
What would be the best thing to make for him? And how do you make it?
(recipes are appreciated)

We have already decided that going out to a restaurant is out of the question. It wouldn't be romantic for us because that's what everyone else is there for, and that's not a turn on for us. I can cook, and I love to cook, but I want to do something different and I dont' have any good ideas for what to cook.

The BEST thing to make is reservations. If you need recipes, you probably need a restaurant. V-day isn't the day to experiment. Go with his favorite meal, or just chocolate, strawberries & champagne. Who needs to eat when you can just play?

I love shrimp and seafood too. So, I would suggest finding a really good seafood market. Pick out some nice shrimp and maybe some Alaskan crab legs. Lots of seafood markets will steam the stuff right on the premises, but if not you can steam it at home. Season the shrimp with some Old Bay, and serve with a homemade cocktail sauce (all you need is Ketchup, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and horseradish....vary amounts according to taste and mix). Whip up a nice salad and some baked potatoes. And don't forget to pick up a nice crusty loaf of bread. Have real butter for the bread and have some melted to dip the crab in. It's a little messy, but hey that could be fun, right. Serve cold beer or champagne. And don't forget dessert, maybe some chocolate covered strawberries, or a decadent chocolate cake.

Steak ... T-bone prefered micormic montreal seasoning pinch of garlic with baked potato and some green beans. Desert sliced kiwi and strawberries on a platter with sprinkled sugar and whip cream on the side ;-) Make sure you get ur fruit sliced ahead of time those kiwi can take awhile lol. Couple scented candles, bottle or two of fine bubbly or wine, and a nice music selection. I agree though if I want to spend quality time with my girl i HATE going out half the time its a shouting match accross the table just to talk unless you want to spend a lot of money at a really nice resturant.

Trust me on this one...take the advice from the French because food as an aphrodisiac has got to be a French invention! :
Préparez un menu unique pour la Fête des Amoureux
What do salmon, champagne, mushrooms and chocolate have in common? Yes, I know you can eat them but does anything else come to mind? Ok, I'll let you in on the secret, they have been (maybe still are?) considered aphrodisiacs. The word, from the Greek goddess Aphrodite, goddess of love, designates a food that is thought to have the ability to stimulate or activate sexual desire in whomever eats it. Move over Viagra, here comes chocolate!
In any case, the belief that certain foods arouse sexual desire is centuries old. Romans believed that arugula enhanced male sexual power and planted it all around statues of the Greek god Priapus, who apparently controlled that function. The Aztecs believed that the avocado held mystical romantic powers. In researching aphrodisiac foods through the centuries, 4 categories of foods have become apparent:
Category I encompasses food from animals with a reputation for great sexual activity, like the salmon.
The fish travels hundreds of miles, jumps rapids and swims upriver just to get back home and breed.
In category II, you'll find foods with a sensual, even sexual texture. Oysters, figs, mushrooms and passion fruit are notable examples.
Category III foods are aphrodisiacs because of shape: bananas, eggplants, carrots, aspargus, cucumbers and sausages and will leave this category for
Category IV, one of my favorite categories. These delicacies are chosen based on rarity and cost ~ Champagne, caviar, foie gras and the best quality chocolate.
Now you have the basic building blocks to compose your own seductive supper.

go for a simple and easy shrimp pasta. mmm you can take shrimp, parsely, red and yellow bell peppers, wine, and butter and it makes a great combo. or you can make a garlic lemon butter shrimp pasta. that would be soo yummy too. use fresh herbs. just boil up the pasta first and then either boil or saute the shrimp with the veggies or garlic and stuff. you should have something with mint for desert to get rid of the garlic breath hahah

The best thing to serve is your love. Light some candles, put out the best serviceware and some comfort food. Doesn't have to be fancy, but since he obviously likes shrimp....well, what can I say?

Get a couple fillet mignon steaks. Broil or grill them to desired doneness. Baked potatoe with sour cream or sauteed mushrooms (or both) Nice salad and some wine. ...OR
Beef Stroganoff:
1 Round steak cut in thin strips
1 --16 oz sour cream
1 lg. onion diced
1 stick butter
1 can beef broth
cornstarch for thickening (about 2-3 TBL)
Brown meat in small batches in butter till well browned. Remove to plate as browned to make room for more. When all brown add onion to same pot and sautee for about 3 minutes or so till almost done. Add meat back to onions plus broth. Cover and cook about 1 hr or till done. may have to add little more butter when browning if needed. Can add little more broth to cooking if it gets too dry too. When meat is done add the cornstarch mixed with about 1/4 cup water to meat and broth to thicken. When thick like gravy add sour cream. Heat but don't boil. Serve over noodles. ( Some cucumbers sliced thin with onions and a simple vinegar and oil dressing goes well with this.)

My dear, you are the one who know what he likes the most, if he like pizza, you can make pizza for him, but this time, put them on a nice plate, a heart shape napkin, flower centerpiece, a nice and sexy outfit on you (no matter how old you are, you still are the most beautiful person in your husband's eye), if he like beer better than champagne, pour been in a champagne glasses, and make it romantic.
Have fun.
Note: Don't try something too difficult, and pratice in advance.
