A couple of hours ago I dyed my mom's hair. The dye had a very strong smell of ammonia, and it sort of made me sick. Ever since then my breathing has become very heavy. Is this normal?

No. It's not normal. You may be having an allergic reaction to the color. I would go to the ER and have yourself checked out.
I work with color everyday and those chemicals are strong but I've never had a reaction like that.
I would go asap.

You may be having an allergic to the substance you used.It may be Asthma or bronchial spasms.If it was me id go get it checked out.It might be totally unrelated to what you were doing and it happened at the same time.Chest tightness could be a symptom of something serious.Get a doc to check you out.
