Looks like a shark' fin and hugely improve the look of the engines but there must be a technical benefit for it?!

The fins are used to direct air around the engine fairings in such a manner to eliminate turbulence and the resulting drag, behind the engines.

The fin is only used if the plane lands in the water, then it is used for steering
