I ask because when you go to certain websites for your "free" credit report, they always ask for your credit card.

You may want to do some research prior to using the sites. Some states allow people to one free credit report each year without having to give their credit cards. For example, Massachusetts allows their residents to check their report for free once every year. Places like equifax and transunion are two credit card reports that are usually reliable.

You can go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/

You get a free credit report from all 3 major credit reporting agencies. I get mine every year, it's completely free! You just have to answer some security questions from each site before they give it to you.

Good luck!
