My little sister acts like my parent. Tells me what to do - wash the dishes, get the clothes from the dryer. If I complain, she tells my parents and I have to do it anyway. I have told them how this makes me feel, and she doesn't listen ( she says she does but she really doesn't). What can I do? Tonight I said that some friends were coming over and she got mad. I told her that it was my house too, not just hers and that she's not mom or dad. What can I do about this? Talking doesn't seem to be getting through. She acts like the bigger sister ( a teacher at our school even picked up on it). But I am! I'm three years older than she is. It's so frustrating!

Ask her if you can borrow the car and whine when she says no. Ask to borrow money, ask her to take you places. Tell her you're afraid of the dark, will she please go turn on the bathroom light for you and wait outside the bathroom door until you're done? Since she wants to act like the parent, do things that drive a parent crazy.

She is striving for dominance, and it is really getting under your skin because in some ways she seems to be accomplishing her goal. Maybe if you tried your absolute best to be above reproach then she'd have nothing to tell you to do that your parents would back up. Also, if you treated her like a friend maybe the competition would decrease.

So basically she's telling on you.

Do what you're supposed to do, chore wise. Do it quickly, quietly and see what happens.

Does she do her chores on time? If not, you have to catch her and go straight to your folks with that. BTW, what do your parents say about all this?

If she's mad about you having friends over, she is definitely jealous.

Once you guys get older I bet you'll get along great!

Treat her like her age..discuss things she wouldn't understand yet, and she'll eventually come off of her high horse.
You can also call her "kid" or "honey " (things you can't get in trouble for) .
