Every time I try to pet its head it tries to bite my hand.
I'm not sure if that's a normal thing.. But I got this cat about 3 or 4 days ago. So what do I do about it ? How often do I have to take it a shower?

First off dont let your cat keep doing this. if you do when he gets older he will still do in an itll hurt a lot more. what you do is when he bites you hold his mouth open with your hand. he wont like it and he will stop doing it eventually. this may seem mean but it anoys him more than hurt him and its better than getting bit.

It might be playing or frightened. You can train it not to do these things by filling a spray bottle with water and spraying it's back every time it bites you, also a firm No helps. About the shower... you really don't need to bathe cats..... they kind of clean themselves... The only time you might want to is when you notice your cat smelling or if your cat is dirty.. Cats like to roll around in different smells so they can get smelly, you can get a pet shampoo from your vet, it's better for them than scented people shampoo (they hate it)

I got Rocky from the humane society 3 years ago, same problem. I can pet his just his head until he see's my hand then he thinks its a play thing and attacks. This must of been program in him as a kitten. His humans used there hands as to play with him instead of toys. Get him toys and catnip, and use those to play with him. However, he's probably set in his ways just accept it. I have 3 cats. The prefect cat, the piggy cat and the bitter. Good Luck! The shower is cruel, God who could do such a thing. That's just stupid.

If you got it 3 or 4 days ago, don't worry. Just give it time. It could be frightened. Give it some time to get used to you. Get a few feet away from it and see what happends. If you keep having problems in about 2 weeks or so, take it to the vet. Just give the cat some time to get uesd to the surroundings and people. Good Luck!

'Xcuse me, but it doesn't sound like you have enough experience with cats to have one---I'd find him/her a new home, if possible. The biting thing: Oh, yeah---this is time for, what I call the "blaster-bottle"! Just get a spray bottle (or water pistol) fill with plain tap water, and anytime this cat tries to bite, give it a "blast" in the face with the bottle and firmly say "NO!"
Now, what are you talking about---giving it a shower? YES, the cat is going to bite, scratch, claw and in any other way dis-able you from doing this---they do NOT like water! This is why I said that it sounds like you do NOT have enough experience with cats to have one.

Bite it back...lol. Actually it's a cats natural instinct to learn how to fight so give it something else to attack.
