I have a cat who's never been out of the house at all, except for Vet checkups when she's always in her kennel. If she ever gets out by accident, and wanders too far from the house out of curiosity, will she know where we live when she's done exploring and wants to come home?

Ours did. If she gets out just place some food and water outside and she may come back when she feels like it.

I've had two cats. The male was a wanderer. He couldn't wait for his chance to spring out of the door. We were forever combing the neighborhood, looking for him. He hated being an indoor cat, I guess. We would generally find him in a neighbor's garage or fairly close by, and he seemed to be lost and scared. The female never goes further than the front porch, and she is also an indoor cat. So I guess it depends on whether or not your cat has the wanderlust. Just to be sure, I'd keep a close eye on her and make sure she doesn't get out. I think males are more apt to wander than females -- just by instinct. As for finding the way back home, some cats have been known to travel miles to their home when they've been abandoned. Again, that depends on the cat. There are a lot of variables. The best thing to do if you're worried about it, is not to let her out unless you're with her and prepared for a chase.

I'm sure she will but try not to let it happen especially if you live near a busy road. I had the same problem. I had an indoor cat. I had to get somebody to take her til I got a new apartment because I couldn't have pets at my old place. My boss took her in. They had a cat already. They didn't have air conditioning so they had to leave doors open in summer. No screen doors either. Their cat was an indoor/outdoor cat. After my cat got there, she used to sit just inside the door and watch. After a while, she'd start sitting on the porch. Then she'd wander around the yard. She'd been there a couple months before she ventured away. She always came home every night. I moved to Cheyenne, Wy from Denver and took her, of course. She got used to being indoors again.

sometimes they will. It depends on the cat. It is not the best idea to let a house cat outside, because they are unsure of how to find their way around and can sometimes get in trouble easier then a seasoned outdoor cat.

usually not because the cat is a indoor cat so if gets out it will find its way around the house but not outside the house
unless u take him/her outside and show him around
hopes this helps

I am sorry but I have 3 cat who do not go out and when my boy friend tried it one day ... they are so scared they run in the house like the little feet were on fire. It is easy to keep her in.

I bet that she would be terrified to be out of the house. My indoor kitty makes it to the porch then high tales it back into the house with any noise. Unless she gets out of the house and something frightens her and she can't get back in, she'd probably stick around.

More than likely she will come home. My neighbors cat gets out and visits my house all the time and he goes home. Don't worry! Good Luck!

Usually unless they meet a bad ending. How they do it I'm not sure but they won't ususally go far from the house.
