I've been dying to answer a question like this! The answer is easy: IGNORANCE! When people think that they have all the answers (and clearly NO ONE has all the answers) and do terrible things in the name of their religion, etc., we all suffer needlessly. The world needs a vast effort to educate everyone about what is true and what is not. Raise the IQ of the planet by 50 points, and I'm betting all wars would cease. Ignorance is the biggest threat to security, health... everything... on this entire planet - it MUST die, and the sooner the better.

Governments. And I include the United States (my beautiful country) with all the rest. The problem is that we, the people, are allowing the very worst criminals on the planet to run the planet. We HAVE the power because we are, by far, in the majority. Go to my web site and watch some of the videos and then the research for yourself. www.myspace.com/susanestre

The biggest problem is that we ignore what's most precious and important, and enthrall ourselves to stupid nonsense.
For example, we know everything about basketball and Oprah's latest diet, but who's actually taken the half-hour necessary to read the U.S. Constitution?
How many of us actually discuss religion and politics as opposed to throwing bombs at each other's beliefs?
We send money to poor people in Zala Schlockpooi, but who'll take a bag of groceries to that family under your downtown bridge?
We try to think of kids as grownups because grownups can't act like grownups. We fight dying because we never live our lives to the lees.
We pay our taxes, vote as we're told to, get the kids off to the daycare/politician-run school and then flip on the TV to escape.
Pathetic...

Our country is going to hell. We are going the way of the Romans. We are being defeated from the inside by people who don't care about their nation and country as a whole but by people who are more interested in themselves. What happened to being proud to be an American? We have people apologizing to be American now! Sickening! I am not an Irish-American or an African-American, or a Chinese American, Im an AMERICAN AND DAMN PROUD!!!
We are being led around by the nose by a media industry who will shove their ideals down our throats. We have become a nation of "everyone is a winner" and "lets not hurt any feelings". People have no more fight response, just flight. We are a nation who worships movie actors, artists and athletes but pays only lip service to true heros like police, firefighters, military, teachers, etc.
We have short attention spans and lack the staying power to finish off our enemies. We were attacked by islamic terrorists who have no problems killing our people, torturing innocents, and trashing our religious beliefs and way of life, but we have people in this country who are willing to defend these same terrorists in Gitmo and criticize our treatment of them. We approach them with our way of thinking. These terrorists don't think like we do; they have no regard or value for human life. They understand brute force and strength, not peace marches and protests. They percieve that as weakness. We are being held hostage by sick and twisted individuals who criticize this country and blame their leadership for every problem that comes up.
We have lost sight of God.
What a shame. America was once a great country. She still is and can become greater. I hope we realize that soon before its too late.

I think the biggest problem is the selfish exploitation of a person or a group of people by another person. If this problem were taken care of, there would most likely be significantly less poverty.

The absence of UNITY:
i feel most of the world's big problems can be solved if ppl and governments from all countries join hands...bcoz when ppl unite, mountains can move.in spite of the advancements of 'science' and 'technology',these are only making things worse for mother earth who is suffering all the effects of man's greed.so much damage has already been done and now we all need to come together to repair the harm.every single country has its own worth.no country should be left out and when ppl do something about uniting, the forces of mother nature and god will take care of the rest.violence is out, lets work together for peace and prosperity and save mother earth.

LACK OF EDUCATION LEADS TO HUNGER AND DISEASE
HOW TO HELP:
If 10% of the average $907 that Americans spent on Christmas gifts went to children in need, 42 million children could be helped for an entire year according to statistics provided to me during an interview with World Vision.

This year, I conducted an experiment, and asked for donations to World Vision and Heifer.org instead of Christmas gifts. Many folks simply chose to give me gifts anyway, but many did make donations instead, resulting in $137 going to these charities.

I also have a website where I sell art to support these two Christian organizations. The next time you need art for your walls, please consider my website. My personal favorite of my own work is Sunset over Florence12. Recently my aunt (an amateur photographer) and a friend have donated some of their work for this charitable cause, as well. If you know artists who might wish to join this charity model, please send them my way.

There is a set of 6 world maps on my art for charity website that represents the state of our world in terms of poverty, hunger, disease, education availability of electricity and longevity. You can get a full sized copy for your office or child from my website.

Money, if you look there are signs everywhere. Religous wars are sparked by the need for land, which in turn gives their religion money for churches and other things. If people who made over a million dollars a year gave atleast half of it there could be money for the poor, more money for research and more money to help our economy, which will help the high number of struggling families.

The biggest problem is religion. Were it gone, there would be instant solutions for Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Palestine, Kashmir, Chechniya, the Balkans, and many other places troubled by religious strife.

I believe the biggest problem we face is greed, if not for that alot of other issues would cease to exsist. for example hunger, poverty, homlessness. To many people are hung up on Wealth and power, and fame, those things seem to cause alot of problems.
