I am in favor of living gently on the earth. I also drive an economy car and use ethanol/gas mix. I am getting ready to retrofit my home for passive solar. I harvest rainwater. I re-use a lot of items rather than buying new. I plant trees.
I can't understand why people drive gas guzzlers and put money into foreign regimes that hate us and the oil industry which is keeping us down!

I am concerned for the environment and try to do my part to make a difference. Maybe not as much as some but more than most. I have switched all my incandescent lights to Compact Fluorescents. I just bought an Energy Star rated front-loading washer and an Energy Star rated deep freeze. I also bought a flat-screen computer monitor to replace my energy hog tube monitor. I recycle everything I can. I use recycled paper towels, TP, and printer paper. I use ethanol "enhanced" gasoline in my old truck. I charge my cell phones, house phones, and my rechargeable batteries with solar power. I use biodegradeable trash bags (Biobags.) I use environmentally friendly dishwasher and laundry detergent. And I plant trees when I can.

However, I don't dance on the streets in Washington, DC crying about saving the whales and sharks and freeing Tibet. We have a hard enough time preserving human life to worry about animals and foreign laws. I love the environment and I just wish everyone felt the way I did about it, but some people just don't care.

Millions of tons of crap DAILY into the atmosphere is nothing to sneeze at. Pun intended.

We are shrewing ourselves over for a buck.
Shooting ourselves in the herd.
Stepping on our own ducks.
Cutting off our nose to spite our finch.
Kicking ourselves in the asparagus beetle.

For the almighty dollar we're ruining it for everybody and everything, and people who deny it are three fries short of a Happy Meal.
Have a nice day.

Do you mean activist type enviornmentalist, or the type of enviornmentalist that realizes drilling for oil and building highways ect is necessary for our survival? If your dad wasn't working on an oil rig you probably wouldn't have the computer you asked this question on.
