The cheapest way from Newark to NYC is to catch the PATH train. If you came on NJ Transit, PATH will likely be across the platform and through the turnstile. (You can also catch a different NJ Transit or Amtrak train, but it will be more expensive, and you'll likely have to change platforms.) Take PATH to the end of the line at the World Trade Center. Transfer to ANY uptown subway train (1, 2, 3, A, C, or E) and ride north to 42nd Street. You'll get out right in Times Square. The A, C, or E exits (8th Ave.) will be slightly closer to CBS.
If you choose to take Amtrak or NJ Transit instead, you'll arrive at New York's Penn Station (as opposed to Newark's). Follow signs to the subway, and take the A, C, or E north one stop to 42nd Street.

Once you are at newark Penn station You are going to have to catch the Train to New York Penn Station..this puts you in right at Madison square garden. I think at that point all you have to do is walk north on 7th street and you hit Times Square

From penn station, take the 1, 2 or 3 train uptown to 42nd street! You should see a sign for it. make sure you take it uptown or you'll end up in the wrong place.

I at the airport take NJ transit to NYC Penn Station. From there you can take the subway or walk up town on 7th Ave from 38th St up to 53h St. Head West to Broadway then north to 1697 Broadway. Good luck!
