all hard alcohol does it
I gag as soon as it hits my tounge, I can't get it anywhere near my throat.
coolers, beer, wine, cocktails are all fine if their weak

Once you find a booze you like to drink straight you won't gag. But it is true, the faster you down it and follow with something else, the less chance of gagging.
I speak from experience....lol

Nevermind that 'don't smell your alcohol' answer. Certain wines and liquors have amazing smells and some people enjoy them just as much as the taste.
As far as gagging...yeah, it's normal. It all depends on what you're drinking. I can take a shot of plain vodka with no reaction but if I try a shot of 151 rum....it burns so much and tastes gross that I always gag.
The way I usually handle it is I have the shot of alcohol (that makes me gag) in one hand.....and in the other I'll have a glass of juice or some kind of soda (not cola though ..for me at least).....once as soon as I take the shot I quickly follow it with the juice....and it soothes the burn and takes care of the wanting to gag feeling.
I think some people just handle booze in different ways and it affects some people more than others. So it's nothing to really be afraid of if hard drinks are causing a reaction.

First of all, never smell your alcohol before you drink it. That will cause an almost instant gag.
Second, clear your mind and don't really think about what you're drinking. Tip it up, and let as little of the drink touch your tongue as possible.
I wouldn't know if it's normal... I rarely taste my alchol because I tip it so far up that very little touches my tongue.

Its is pretty abnormal to gag when you drink. Just suck it up close your nose and chug it down. You will feel great after a few drinks..trust me ..i know.

i never did but u have to drink alot and u will stop . I had a friend that had that problem
