Detailed? It's not -- probably because the realities of crucifixion were well-known to readers back then, and they were just too horrible to dwell on.

It's the same reason why the vivisection of people in Nazi concentration camps isn't "detailed" -- we don't need to be given a point-by-point description of it. We all know what happens, and we can all imagine how horrible it is.
