Ok it's not a huge issue, but I seriously wonder if he's gone crazy, I've owned Henry for almost 4 years and he's older (and yes he's neutered) so all he did was lie around and sleep, he would only play once in a while, he was basically a fat lazy cat, but within the last week or so he's gone nuts, I'm talking racing back and forth, jumping on furniture (he's declawed so I don't mind) launching himself off of furniture, and he meows really loud now for no reason (before he only meowed when is his food dish was empty)he's nuts, it's like he's a kitten again, the only thing i've changed was his food, I bought Purina Cat Chow- Vitality Formula, can food make that huge of a change in his life? Like I said it's not a big deal 'cause it's nice to see him act like a kitten but it's just kinda odd, wondering what you guys think?

No I have not mistreated my cat or abused it in any way to make him act like this!

Giving him better food will definitely make a change. I had to change cat food for my senior cat (she is 23) and after a few days she too would run around acting like a kitten again.
Keep up the good work!

Sounds like Henry is feeling his youth again. My old cat will do that once in a while, but it's rare. So you haven't bought any catnip? Then it really may be the food. Maybe it has a different level of protein and fat than your prior food, or simply more vitamens and nutrients so now he's feeling better.

What ever the case, enjoy it.

There is nothing wrong with Henry. He is just feeling good about himself and life in general.
I had a cat who lived to be 19 years old. At times, she would act "kittenish" for no perceivable reason.
Henry is probably just "feeling his oats" and feels like playing and talking. Just accept the fact that you have a great companion. And enjoy his playfulness while it lasts.

Set your alarm for 3AM some evening and stay conscious till fairly after the time that your cat frequently is going loopy. pay attention heavily for any noises that would desire to be scaring him or placing him off. The 4AM element of if makes me think of that it would desire to be a prepare. we've a freight prepare that comes for the duration of the section around 4AM. it is not genuine interior attain so it became no longer waking us up, besides the indisputable fact that it truly bothered the cats as quickly as we first moved it. in case you are going to be certain what it triggering the loopy fits, then the vet you paintings for would desire to be waiting that should assist you prepare/calm the cat whilst this is occurring. stable success.

My fur-child does this too...during the moon phases...don't know if there is any "real" connection to his acting out during the first night of a moon phase, but it's odd that is the only time he seems to feel his oats...certain pagans that I know say that the first night of a moon phase alters the lay lines of the planet which promotes supernatural activity and he is reacting or responding to that activity in and around our house--I may not be aware of this activity but he is sensitive to it...

It's true, a more fortified food will make them more lively! They feel better, so they're more active, just like us when our nutrition is right. My 10-yr-old runs and plays like a kitten...for him it's 60-40 - sleep-play...but when he plays he really makes a kit of himself!

I don't believe in what commercials say but that's what that commercial for purina cat chow challenge says. Maybe you should get your cat to be the spokesperson

My kitten does that sometimes. All I do is play with it for a while. Or maybe it can be that it hasn't had enough sleep.
