I am starting to plan my wedding, and both my fiance and I are low on funds. What is a good way to earn and save money? I am also in college so I don't earn much with a part time job. Would it be inappropriate to ask family and friends for help?

Don't ask for money.
But......I've yet to come across someone turning down
"Oh Aunt So-n-so, you are soooo good at arranging flowers. Would you mind putting together my wedding flowers as your gift to us?"

There's also a book by Diane Warner called, How to have a big wedding on a smell budget. It retails for $15; see if you can get it at your library, half.com or a halfprice bookstore.

Ps. If you need a planning list, email me I have one I offer my brides.

Asking for money for your wedding is a huge no-no. It also implies to other people that you are not mature or financially stable enough to be married.

If you are really intent on getting married now, there are ways to do it on a low budget. Our wedding cost less than $2000 (not including the rings, however). It can be done. We did a lot of the planning and decorations ourselves, and cut costs by skipping the traditions that we didn't really care for -- for example, we didn't have bridesmaids or groomsmen, and the only flowers we had were a bouquet for me to carry and a few corsages for the mothers/grandmothers. We planned an early afternoon wedding with cake and punch, instead of worrying about a whole meal. It was absoultely beautiful, and everyone loved it. AND we still had money left over for a honeymoon.

No, you don't ask for money. You either have the kind of wedding you can afford yourselves now, or wait until you have saved more.
