recall Meister Eckhart; " the ultimate leave taking is the leaving of God for God.
It is the role of society or the church to stop people from having a direct experiance of God they have always placed God in a Box. Defining God. Every now and then a mystic or a prophet comes along and breaks open that box and opens the doors the clergy (phariesees) have been trying to keep closed revealing another peice of God.
Now when God said though shall have no other God before me. Was He Saying DO not put me in a box or a book and define me Because I am bigger than that. I am bigger then your book or your box.

If you think the Bible is the end and God will not reveal more than YOU are worshiping a book as an IDOL

First of all, i should say, its a very interesting and thought provoking question.

When Bible (Book of books in Greek) talks about other gods, it is projecting the unfair practice of Roman emporers who would want people to see them as Gods.

But that is different compared to say....Hindu version of Idol worship. They workship idols not because someone forced them, but because each individual comprehends the omnipotent reality in a way (idol) that he/she can comprehend.
Some people argue about idol Worship as though its a sin. Well...let see it this way. God is such an enlightening word that we forget its the ulitmate energy and reality. People call this unseen energy with different names in different religions.

Its our (human) tendency to put faces for the reality in our everyday lives so that we can comprehend it better. For example, if there are bad habits in our life and we need to get rid of them, we put a face for all the bad and call it "work of satin". Once a man puts face for bad things, now its easy to work on it because we will imagine the bad habits as satin and try to stay away from it as though we are trying to stay away from some mythical beast. But what we are doing actually is working on our own self. Nothing wrong in it, as long as we dont judge people with different ways of tacking everyday problems.

Idol worship is a similar thing too. Take Hinduism for example. All we know is that Hindus do Idol Worship. But actual reality is different. Ask any Hindu how many different Idols he/she has seen and they will say count in 100s but ask the same person how many Gods he think is the ultimate, and the answer will always be one. Hindu believe in a single God/energy but which manifests itself in different energies/matter/form. People involved in irrigation and agriculture, since their life is based on that, will try to see a manifestation of that ultimate god into several different energies/gods...one for Rain God, Sun God, Earth God and so based on their own life experience. But that doesnt mean that they are putting the ultimate reality in one. They realize that they are talking about just one of the manifestations. Of course, we humans are the ones who categorize things but hey...which ever helps humans to stay on a course to righteousness, they are free to do.

If you are talking about the Bible as "our book" you are mistaken. The Bible is God's word written as directed by Him so I don't think He minds being there.
