I know that Vinegar straightens hair, but I never heard that it would affect the growth.

no I only heard apple cider vinegar was good for loosing weight, if you have a hair problem that will be linked to nutrition and absorption of vitamins, you need to consume B-5 which is pantothenic acid, I have a thyroid problem and lost a lot of hair the only product that helped me was royal jelly its a food supplement you take every morning and my hair started to grow. You can read about it on www.beeroyalproducts.com good luck

I don't know about the hair growth bit, but vinegar is good for dry scalp, and getting all of the shampoo residue out of your hair. Rinse hair after shampooing, and pour vinegar on hair, and rinse.
