Your cat's meowing is her way of letting you know what she wants. If you don't respond to her demands, she will keep on meowing, just like a small child will keep on crying if you ignore her. Why not leave the door to your room open just wide enough to let kitty through? Then she can come and go as she pleases and you won't be annoyed by her.

You never own a cat, the cat owns you! If you want to own a pet, get a dog!
I have 2 cats: one meows constantly when she wants something, the other is just happy whenever I do something for her. I think basically it all depends on each cat's personality.

Well, actually--you have 2 dilemmas here. #1--Why do cats meow until they get their way---this is simple---BECAUSE THEY CAN, and it WORKS, doesn't it? They are smart enough to know that if they just keep it up long enough, you'll do just about anything, this side of slashing your wrists, to shut them up---so, they keep it up. And, the door thing---why not just leave the door slightly open (enough for her to get out), then if she wants out, she has access. I have an idea that this may NOT work because I'll betcha what she really wants is for YOU to get up too. Good luck with this.

My cat meows when she wants to play or wants food! Your cats just telling you that they need these things right now!

You need to adjust your routine to the cat. We have learned to adapt. We are just a couple but in the summer we put a sheet up so the AC can run and the cats go in and out at will. Everyone asks how can I train my cat. Look at your behavior. They train us.

I know it's just a pet, but they have to communicate to you what they want by meowing. That's their only way of doing this.

Their time is not our time.
