I don't mind being called "guy', it's when I get called "mate" that annoys me. I keep thinking i've grown a beard or something. In Australia now it is becoming very popular to call females "mate", used to be used only for men.

Not offended- this term is used so much that it is applied generically to everyone. Perhaps you would prefer if the waitress/waiter used the term:"Ladies" when addressing a group of women customers?

I don't mind. English is my first language, and I have lived in America since the age of 5. I am used to the slang and think barely anything of it.
"Guys" is simply the informal term for "all".
"You guys", you must admit, sounds better than "you all".
I think it's nice to know that the waitress isn't stiff and prim: She's a regular person.
With all society's problems, there are more important things to worry about than a waitress using casual slang.

Its fine with me. Its just like a teacher saying "ok guys" when the class has both male and female students. Sometimes when you get to a group of friends you say "sorry guys i'm late"....just a habit really.

That's an insult .don't take it,set them straight.your not a guy,or one of the guys. your a lady.
I know I am not a lady. but that's just rude
If a waitress said hey girls to me and my man friends That would be weird, so set her straight.
of course I am a Southern Gentleman and we dont have rude stupid manners like that .as I have seen anyway,

Doesn't bother me at all. It's a common phrase "you guys". Now if I'm dressed up looking hot, I might be a little offended, but I doubt I'd be going to a casual place like that all dressed up.

It does not bother me, but I know that some sticklers for proper English hate it.
If it was a fancy restaurant, it is not appropriate to call any guest "guys".

Guys does not necessarily refer to a gender as much as it does to a group of people - as a whole. I would be offended if she referred to us as "boys," "gentlemen" or "children."

It doesn't bother me at all. In California "you guys" is generic--just like saying "you all" in the South.
