My BF of 4 months doesn't compromise. We spend most of our time together within his dorm room. Our only dates have been ones I personally initiated. Ive talked 2 him many times about how our relationship shouldnt be spent in his room,&how we should include our friends when we spend time 2gether,rather than only hang out alone,& he's agreed but hasn't acted on it. I've invited him 2 go out w/ my friends & I, but he has social anxiety so he doesnt usually come.
So I've realized that we operate in different social mannerisms.I now go out with my friends more &see him @ a more personal level.
Here's the real bummer-He does not want to celebrate VALENTINEs Day with me!

His theory is that V-Day is a superficial creation of society, and he hates it.I explained to him why I enjoy it.He told me that he is uncomfortable with my expectations from him as a male in this relationship. It hurts me that he is overlooking my feelings of wanting 2celebrate our relationship b/c he wants 2 make a statemnt.

I only wrote about the bad and not the good--

I am still with him because we share a lot of the same interests. We love being together. He even came to visit me over winter break when my mom invited him (as a surprise).

Most importantly---We live in the same residence hall in college, so we spend lots of time together. He initiates a lot of our "hanging out." The problem lies in the dating outside of school aspect.

You just asked this question. See my last answer. It hasn't changed. Cut him loose. He's selfish.

11 days isn't that long to have dated. except you knew one yet another nicely earlier you began relationship, i'd say spend below $20. attempt to stay removed from girlie issues (like flowers or filled animals), that's confusing sufficient to faux liking something in case you have been at the same time awhile, no longer to show below 2 weeks. Get him a CD or DVD, possibly a low-value subscription to a mag on some subject count he's interested in, or possibly a e book. something that shows you comprehend his tastes (assuming you do, in case you do no longer, then ask his pals for techniques). If he has a typical group, possibly you would be able to desire to get him something with their kind on it. basically via fact Valentines day is often approximately hearts and flowers, it would not recommend your present must be something fluffy and ineffective. while you're completely at a loss, bake him cookies or something.

I know this comment I make wont win me the best answer award but you did choose to be his gf didn't you? You knew well in advance he was like this but all of a sudden we are coming upon valentines day and your in distress. I realize you want to feel, express, live and enjoy your womanhood but gosh why are you upset with him when you knew he was like this? There must of been something that brought you to loving or making love to him.

What has changed since?

since v-day is a superficial creation of society. then do something on tuesday before or thursday after. since he has social anxiety, instead of going out decorate his dorm room (if he stays alone) with candles and roses and have some fun with it. get the mood going or something. since he is unconfortable with the expections of him being the male then you do the things for him instead of making him feel he has to do the things for you. if you need anymore help with it. then im me at cris91120032004@yahoo.com.

You know, I think he may be going out with another girl... I mean, he could be cheating on you.
OR
He may just not be ready to be in a relationship right now and needs his space, so I think you need to move on and find someone who won't hurt you, and who will be at your side.

its really hard to change somebody's mind whenever its pretty much already set in stone. it seems like your sacrificing way more than he is in the relationship, and thats never good. You shouldnt have to change your views just to fit his.

Tell him to pull his head out of his crack and spend some romantic time with you.............afterall, you are the one making all the sacrifices by going to his place all the time.
