It's virtually never a good practice to purchase any financial vehicle without the assistance of a qualified advisor. In no area could this be more true than with long term care insurance.

Within life and health insurance lines, nothing is more complex than LTC coverage. In fact, it is so complex that most agents have an extremely poor understanding of it, and many absolutely refuse to sell it without the assistance of an LTC specialist.

More so than any other insurance product you are likely to purchase, you need to speak with a specialist. That specialist needs to have a clear picture of your situation, needs, and objectives.

I am a long term care agent for one of the leading companies for Long Term Care Insurance. I can tell you that the best way to get a true picture of the type of policy and benefits that you want in a Long Term Care policy is to have an agent come out and ask you several questions, not just about your health, but financial. It is our responsibility prior to writing a policy to make sure it is suitable for you. Not everyone needs or can get Long Term Care. I would be happy to give you a comparison or prices without calling you. Just e-mail me with your age, if you have a spouse, and their age and you health. Anything in the last three years, your prescriptions and if you have any serious health diagnosis. Please let me know your monthly income and amount of liquid assets (this is to make sure you need it to protect those assets). Our policies cover all facility care, and 100% home care. I usually recommend a 4 year policy (not lifetime like most brokers recommend) at about $150 -180 a day benefit. No need to overinsure folks. You want to go with an elimination period 30 days or less and make sure that you are with a company that has been paying claims for at least 20 years. I'll get you a quote and answer your questions with no obligation or pressure. Hope that helps
