Everytime I drink milk, buy a coffee from Starbucks, or get a smoothie, I get a really bad stomach ache. For the past couple of days I have been drinking things with milk in it even though I knew I probably shouldn't, and then today I had really bad cramps and diarrhea. Sometimes I forget about being lactose intolerant because I am still able to eat things like cheese and yogurt, and then I suffer later. Is there anything I can do to be able to tolerate milk again, or is cow's milk not that good for you anways? I just became lactose intolerant this year & I'm 14.

There is a pill called Lactaid. You take it before you eat a dairy product and it helps your body process the milk. I tried it and it worked pretty good. You can get it over the counter at stores like Wal-greens or Wal-mart.

I think there's a type of milk that's made specially for lactose intolerant people. I would talk to the doctor, because they can give you the specifics on what you should and shouldn't eat. They can also tell you some other foods that are made for lactose intolerant people.

I have the same problem girl.. only with milk. Not cheese or yogurt, and I end up by forgetting too. They do make special lactose milk but I would try soy milk, it's a little more expensive but they have ones that taste real good, even better than real milk.. and buying it is well worth not having those awful stomach pains and you know what else! ;)

You may be allergic to "milk protein". In which case you should eliminate anything that says "Casein". In it. My sister has the same problem as you. I am lactose intolerant, and Lactaid is fine for me. You can also try rice milk, or soy milk. staying away from dairy completely. It's a hard thing to get used to. I am allergic to all the major food groups. Dairy makes me itch. And makes me bloated/stomach ache/heartburn too.

In any drug store you can buy pills over the counter for lactose intollerant people, I believe one brand is called Lactaid. You take the pills before eating products with lactose in it. You can buy lactose free milk.Reaad the labels
