Do you not wish the text to be known? Do you not want to know it yourself?

I really don't understand why a Christian would object to the words of the Bible being displayed for all to read. Can you help me understand that?

How do you "twist the meaning of", for example:
"'As for your male and female slaves whom you may have-- you may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you" (Leviticus 25:44)

I post it and let it stand on its own merits; I neither add nor take anything from this passage.

Logically speaking, do you think an atheist would object to the above passage being posted? The most probable voter one could deduce would be a Christian given it is Christian text.

Because some parts of the Bible are in direct contradiction to the "peace and love" message they want to spread.

Not everyone on R&S is a Christian. Some people disagree with the Bible and engage in healthy debate. Other (less mature people) think that only their way of thinking is correct (whatever it may be) and in an immature act of defiance, give the writer a "thumbs down" if they say something contrary to their own beliefs.

I, as a Christian, would not object to the use of and reference to the Bible. I would object, however, to the Bible being taken out of context. This, it would seem, is the most used plot of unbelievers. And although I would not even give this a "thumbs down", I would correct the fact that the Bible was taken out of context.

Maybe because one Christian reads a different version of the Bible than another Christian and they might think it is a watered down version and give it a thumbs down. KJV version is the most powerful, but I wouldn't thumbs down no one if they posted another version. Hmmm.

I know y'all like to go back and forth on this, but there is such a thing as "out of context" -- As you can clearly see from all the differing groups of people who commit atrocities and then quote the scripture to back themselves up. I saw a sick Jerry Springer where a KKK guy and a Black supremist were both thumping Bibles. Out of context, you can find all sorts of things. The JW's don't allow their members to have blood transfusions because of half a verse. It says something like "don't take blood that has been sacrificed to idols" and shortened it to "don't take blood" -- They are killing their members by not including the context of the verse. It's just sick.

I don't know why anyone would not want to read or hear God's word. I love God and I love reading and hearing God's word. There are people that don't like or believe in God. That's the only people that I can think of that would give scripture a thumbs down. I have learned that God wants the love from everyone because we are created in His image. If someone don't love Him, then He won't force them to. God gives everyone free will. I love God, though.

It depends on what the Scripture is being used to condone or what it is being made out to say. Sometimes people take it out of context and use it to try to say the goofiest stuff then the thumbs down is not for the Scripture but the rest of the question or answer.

Honey...how do you know Christians did the thumbs down? However, let me warn you. Posting something that is three pages long is going to get you thumbs down no matter what it says.

Romans 8:28
