Hell no. I wouldn't trust a 16 year old kid to take a car out of town.

400 miles...are you insane. I was an adult before I was able to make a trip like that. A 16 year old should not be aloud to leave the city to live in and quite possibly stay within a certain radius of home and school. Your child has not the insight to travel 400 miles alone nor the experence as a driver and as their mother you would be doing them a disservice by allowing this to happen. I would seriously doubt how good a parent you are if you are even considering allowing a 16 to make this trip.

If you are just getting your license, I think a 400 mile trip is too far to drive. I am 23 and I get exhausted driving after 400 miles. Are you experienced enough to drive long trips? I would say hold off on that long of a trip right now. If you do go, all I can say is be very careful.

It depends on the 16 year old. If they are mature enough to handle the responsibility of driving then yes. Sadly, if they are a new driver, one can't really judge if they are mature enough or not. In general, I do not think a 16 year old has any business 400 miles from home unsupervised. Technically, without a parent, crossing state lines as an unsupervised minor could be against the law.

What's 400 miles away? That's a pretty long drive for many people let alone someone who just got their license.

I would add about 10 miles per month to give some good experience. No way would I allow a trip that long until they had they had at least 1 to 2 years experience.

I was only allowed to drive in town when I first got my license, which wasnt even til I was almost 18. My friends used to go all over the place... they have tickets and accidents on their records... I have a clean slate.
It depends on how responsible the teen is..and what kind of trip it is. I wouldn't let my child go on a road trip at 16..or even 17.

I would not allow my child to drive that far alone. Not enough experience. You need to think of the lives of the other people on the road also. When I was 16...I thought I should be able to, but looking back, it took me years to get the experience I needed.

350 miles is merely too far for making use of on my own. no longer sufficient adventure. different than that, it relies upon on the section that he/she would be able to be making use of by using, adulthood stages, etc. i in my opinion would not enable my sixteen year old rigidity farther than an hour, and purely then if it became a incredibly secure section she became making use of by using (as in, no significant cities, and no long, abandoned stretches).
