I'm thinking about having an ear-tag custom-made for my cat, and have my phone number engraved on it. It would be like a little stud made of surgical steel. Has anyone tried this? Any other ideas?
My cat won't accept a collar and although she's chipped, I want a more hands-on way of id for her.
Thoughts are welcome.

Oh No! Not ear tag!
Poor cat..
Just love her to death and she will not run away.
Chip is good. enough.
Collar is extra.
Mine has chipped and a collar with my name and telephone no:
Talk to your cat all the time and she will follow you everywhere and call and she will come to you..
Maybe try train to responds and come to you.
The cat has super hearing and can hear...
Whistle..
Good luck

I've never considered an ear tag and knowing how sensitive their ears are I would consider a collar instead. I'd choose a collar with a safety release, like elastic, so if she gets caught on something it will give enough for her to become free.

She may hate the collar initially, but after a few days she will quit fussing about it.

Sometimes these tags get snared in fences and it's not uncommon for cats to get hurt so if the tag is a really big one or looks uncomfortable somebody might be relieving the tag in order to give the animal a bit of comfort.

do not use a tag in her ear. if it has your name and # then it will be large or the font will be too small to read. If she is an indoor cat then a chip is all you need. if she is indoor/outside cat then you could use these new tracking chips that are embedded so that the can track her and know her within 100 yards. but remember, if she truly loves you she will not run away.

My two never see the light of day, but they have a micro-chip. If your cat won't let you put a collar on her that is about all you can do. Dogs can be tattooed inside their leg, but cats legs are too small.

I'd be scared to put a stud in the ear of my cat. If she got into a fight with another cat, the other cat could rip in out of her ear

The only high visibility ID that won't fall off is a tattoo. Good luck finding a vet who's set up to do that, though.

the chip should be good, you would only need to really worry about that if your cat escaped but I'm sure you are a good responciable cat owner who keeps their cat inside where they are happier and healthier
