I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with the V6 engine, and was wondering how difficult it would be to swap it with the 5.2L V8? Is it possible? Thanks

Yes. Get the engine, PCM and complete wiring harness.(underhood) All the exhaust system back to and including the catalytic converter will have to be replaced. Compare the transmissions for V6 and V8. The boltup may be different on that year model.

Assuming you need to get a donor vehicle or your junk backyard is golden, it shouldnt be overly expensive. once you've the approaches, understand how, etc, can quite get a v6 body, and throw the engine in with some alterations for sure. I did. I actually have a ninety seven v6 body besides the undeniable fact that it has a 2003 4.6 in it. like it. And that is low-cost for insurance too. it will forestall earnings the destiny.

the truck came with a v8 as another engine option so we know one will fit. with this the best way would be to find a wrecked ram with a v8 and get the whole truck. probably need engine, and computer and wiring harness possibly the transmission, drive shaft, v8 is heavier so you might need the front springs also.

it might just be easier to sell your truck with a v6 and buy another one with a v8

not too bad. Get the same year motor as what is in the truck. You'll need the pcm and the wiring harness and everything else i believe just bolts right up. 318 are plentiful and pretty cheap. good luck

It shouldn't be too hard. Just make sure that your transmission will handle a V8 and that your engine mounts line up.

in order to do this you have to change wiring harness computer system motor mounts motr transmission reqarend. in other words you will be paying more than what it would cost to just buy one with that size of motor in it. use some common sense and just buy one.
