I see frequent statements from Christians about how they are discriminated against, or persecuted, in our (western) society. I don't get it. It's a majority Christian nation. Your Churches, even the ones that make incredible profit, don't pay taxes. You are free to worship as you chose. You stuck a Fundamentalist nut job in the oval office, who in turn appointed other whackos onto federal courts. You've managed to change text books to reflect your faiths. You've managed to sneak public funding for religious schools, and called it charter programs and vouchers. You managed to get Government funding for religious charities, some of which are directly political...like Pat Robertson. WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT?!?!?
What do you call discrimination? Is it discrimination when you don't get to stick your beliefs in the public arena like schools and court houses? Is it discrimination when someone debates Christian history? Is it discrimination to teach scientific fact in schools?

Dear baseball girl,I think we need to clear something up:
Evolution isn't a theory. Evolution is an observed and documented fact. The causes and mechanisms for evolution are theories, but evolution occuring is scientific fact.
Creationism, or Intelligent Design, or whatever you want to call it is NOT a theory. It was NOT formulated by the scientific method. It is a belief, and as such has no place in public schools.
Calling you a bigot for your attitude against homosexuals isn't persecution. Persecution would be throwing you in jail for feeling that way.
If you employ people in an outwill situation, you get to determine the state of the work place. If you want to create a Christian environment, that's fine, AS LONG AS YOU DON'T BREAK FEDERAL LAW in areas like racism, discrimination, equal oppurtunity, etc.
How is taking God out of the public arena discrimination? If that's the case then every group is discriminated against in the US if we don't put their beliefs in publi

I know what you mean. I posted a question about this a couple days ago. I'm sick to death of people using the word 'persecution' in that sense. It's not 'persecution' when you aren't allowed to teach Biblical creationism in science class. It's not even close. No one understands what persecuted means anymore.
People keep defining 'persecution' as 'not being able to put my religion in every single place I want it, whenever I want it, no matter what anyone thinks, regardless of how other people are affected'. Religious persecution IS happening around the world, but it's not happening to Christians in this country, and it's ridiculous and laughable when people try to make comparisons between places where it IS happening and places where it clearly is NOT happening.

Most of the answers to your question is an example of Christian persecution. It is a sick society to think as some of you do when this country and it's history was based on Christianity. Your so called facts will be proven wrong someday and guess what. Christians won't be persecuted any longer. And yes, I agree minorities have been persecuted but now the minorities are doing the same thing. Everything anyone does these days, racist is screamed. Lawsuits are rampant. Don't try to downgrade Christianity and I won't downgrade your belief. Who wins in the long run, I guess we shall see.

There is no persecution of Christians in North or South America. Some local persecution of Evangelicals in parts of Mexico.
Those who cry persecution don't know what persecution is. They may not like the fact that they are not allowed to use certain forms of distribution in certain cities because of municipal bylaws. but they are definitely not being persecuted for their faith.
Sometimes someone might say: "I think Christians are stupid", and a Christian will cry "persecution!". I say: Grow up! Read your Bible, and find what persecution was about.

Wow. I'll be personally honest with you. I, too have a problem with some of the things you mentioned, but I do NOT CALL myself a "Christian." I call myself a "Believer." Now why? Because most of what you described is APOSTATE, meaning these are churches of MONEY. Also, I couldn't relate to anything Pat Robertson says because he's a follower of the GREEN GOD. (Any man who calls himself "Christian" then says that Hugo Chavez should be assassinated is, therefore, not with God, but with greed.) So I understand what your saying, but understand this: These things your going off about are from an Apostate Church and do not effect the true believers.

Christians claim they are being persecuted just like the bible says they would be. However, this "persecution" is not mentioned in the Bible at all.
The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16).
All they have to worry about is someone calling them bad names and denying them their request for favoritism.

See in case you may draw close this. In Biblical situations Slavery became allowed worry-loose. This became simply by fact some would desire to no longer arise with the money for foodstuff or the different on a regular basis necessities. Or they owed extensive quantities of Debt. Or that they had no way of having easy paintings. They bought themselves into Slavery. Their money owed the place then paid via their grasp. and that they'd paintings those money owed off. maximum the place taken care of so nicely that as quickly as the Debt became payed. They stayed. They exception to this rule. Roman Rule. CB

I think Christians could only hope for all that you outlined in your rant. None true of course. But you have the right to persecute if you so please. They don't debate anything Christian anymore. They are or would like to remove all semblance of public dialog. There was a day when evolution was in the same spot. It went to court, lost, but eventually was overturned. Now it's switched around. If you're saying 'scientific fact' - your kidding, right? You're not that gullible. Supposition and presumption are not fact.

the persecution they are talking about is the progressive lost of power the churches are undergoing.
nowadays many countries are starting to realize the best thing to do is to separate government and religion and this is hurting them since they cannot control everything if they lack political power.
