XD brain~fried! Except I'd rather not be drunk most nights!

And it wouldn't be a permanent thing, taking them (Only when I was feeling REALLY desparate).

The medication most given to patient's in the hospital who do not want or cannot handle a Rx sleeping pill is Benadryl or diphenhydramine (generic). Take 1 25mg capsule 30 minutes prior to sleep. Make sure you get 8 hours sleep or you may be drowsey the next day. If the one capsule does not work you may take up to 50 mg (2 tablets) for sleep.

I quit the first time for 2 years, by using Nocoderm CQ patches. After 2 years started amoking again for 7 months. Today I decided to quit again so I bought CVS patches cause they were cheaper. After 2 hours of waring the patch I still had craving for cigarettes. Went to CVS and bought Nicoderm CQ. I've had this patch for 12 hours already and no craving at all. I did feel the "kick" that calmed me down, just like the first time when I quit. So, if you don't know what's good, ask what's expensive. Also, you have to be determined to quit smoking. 10% is craving, 90% is discipline.

Any form of diphenhydramine will make you sleepy. This is the main ingredient in Benadryl (for allergies) and is the medication that it added to Tylenol PM and most sleep medications. (Look at the active ingredients in the sleep aids at your local drug store). Don't take NyQuil or any medication that contains other medications for additional symptoms (since you don't need the extra meds).

A homeopathic sleep aid is Calms Forte (by Hyland's). It is herbal and will help you sleep soundly.

None of these medications are habit forming. But make sure you take them as directed - and give yourself a full 8 hours to sleep off the medication (you don't want to be groggy) in the morning.

Sweet dreams!

If you have access to an herbalist or naturopath they can help make a strong tea to knock you out. I have problems sleeping and my herbalist does a mixture of skullcap, valerian, lemon balm, and hysops. I drink that and am out within half an hour - no hangover feeling in the morning - melatonin works good too.

Melatonin is awesome and is the vitamins section and are available in 3-5 mg, I think. It increases a natural occuring hormone or something in your brain that helps w/ sleep cycles. When I take them I sleep so deeply and have the weirdest dreams....
