Some cats don't like using alternatives -I bought my cat that recycled-paper litter once when his regular kind was sold out and boy was he mad at me, he only used the box once that night after protesting loudly so first thing the next morning I went to another store and got his normal brand! However after declawing you can't do that because it'll hurt her paws, it's much harsher and it can cause infections.

I hope she'll start using the litterbox again when her paws heal up, since it's too late to do anything about the declawing now, but I wish you had come to Yahoo Answers before declawing her. While there are quite a few cats who heal okay and don't develop problems, there are also MANY declawed cats will stop using the litterbox for ever it hurts them so much. Declawing is illegal in many countries and for good reason, there are many ways to train a cat not to scratch.

Possibly, her paws are still tender from being declawed, and it probably hurts her when she comes in contact with the litter. You might try the clumping kind of litter, which is softer than the regular kind, or even some fine-grained sand After her paws are completely healed, she will probably go back to the litter pan. Cats instinctively want to cover their messes. Just be patient. Or if all else fails, consult your veterinarian for advice.

If done correctly, it's not cruel to have a cat declawed, especially if it's an indoor cat. Cats need their claws to climb trees and defend themselves if they are outdoor cats. But indoor cats can do a lot of damage to furniture if they aren't declawed, and to their owners. Cat scratches are not fun. I'm sure you've had your reasons for having your cat declawed, so it doesn't make sense for people to tell you it's cruel or illegal after you've already done it. Your cat will heal and she will be just fine without her claws. I declawed both of my cats and neither suffered any ill effects.

After a declaw surgery the cat must be confined while the incisions heal. Shredded
newspaper or paper towels should be used in the litter box in place of litter to keep litter
out of the incisions.

A new pan or a new type of litter will make a picky cat litter box shy. You should always change the litter slowly from one brand to another. Cats are just that way.

After you declaw your cat, you shouldn't use litter... it could get stuck in the wounds. This could lead to infection and all sorts of different bad things.

My vet recommended that we use shredded newspaper until the wounds had healed fully in a few weeks. Even if your cat doesn't like it, too bad- Newspaper is sterile (for the most part) and it's not small enough to get stuck in the wounds.

After declawing their paws are very sore. I'm surprised that your vet did not recommen using shredded paper for a week or two until her paws are healed.

Take the litter out of her pan and put lots and lots of shredded paper in her litter box. She'll use it.

After you get your cat declawed their feet are really sensitive... it probably just hurts her feet a little. Once their feet heal it'll be fine. Mines feet hurt for a few week, while my other cat healed fast. If you notice a big problem, take the cat to the vet just to be sure.

If you are using clay litter it is probably hurting her poor sore paws. Have you tried to use a littler like yesterdays news? It is made of news paper and easier on her paws. Once her paws are healed she should use her regular litter again.

It sounds like her paws probably hurt too much for her to want to go into it. Could they be infected? You might want to take her to the vet to have them checked. Are they in bandages?
Here in Australia, and many other western countries, it is illegal to declaw your cats as it is considered cruel.
