There could possibly be 30-40 people there. I have thought about a cheeseball and crackers, miniature cheesecakes, and a veggie tray. I'd like to hear some more ideas. I'm also interested in beverage ideas (no alcohol) that are inexpensive and will work well with all ages and medical conditions, such as diabetes. Many thanks in advance!

This is very simple and so yummy!!
Buy some packages of Won Ton Wrappers, and Cheese that are in bricks.
Cut the cheese into sugar cube size. Place one cube each in the center of each Won Ton Wrapper. Bring all four corners together, pinch together. You can get a variety of different cheeses for this.
Now place each Won Ton into Mini cupcake pan and bake at 350 until light golden brown.

You can also buy bags of frozen Meatballs and and industrial can of Sweet and Sour sauce for them and a few cans of pineapple chunks and Mandarin oranges.. This is really a great dish.

For a nice Punch, I would mix together 2liters of Sprite or 7Up, flavored Hawaiian Punch, and top it off with scoops of Sherbet Ice Cream to make it look pretty.
You can also freeze orange juice or grape juice in ice cube trays and when you're ready to serve, just pop them in and watch them float with the sherbet :)

Think small foods that are easy to eat. Fruit is a good choice. Cold cuts rolled and skewered with a toothpick is good. Spreads on toast points or small crackers. Kabobs or satays. Even chicken drumettes can be nice. You'll want food that is still somewhat satisfying, as people will be hungry. You're looking at probably a good three to six hours of festivities, people will be hungry. Maybe a selection of soups or salads served buffet style. As for the drinks, you can try a non-alcoholic sangria, juices or other juice based drinks. Anyway, good luck, I hope this helps you. Try www.foodtv.com or www.hgtv.com for ideas, also Martha Stewart's magazines and websites have great stuff too.

I love those little quiches, they are so yummy!!! You could also go to someplace like a Sam's Club and get a meat tray, or instead of the cheese ball get a cheese tray, for the "sweet" you could always do cupcakes. My best friend did that for her wedding and it was really cute (her mom worked at Kohl's I think and was able to borrow a display tier thing so the way they arranged the cupcakes on it made it look like a real layered cake).

You can do deviled eggs. Boil eggs and take off the shell and cut long ways and put the yolk into a bowl and keep doing this until all the eggs are done. Then with all the yolks in the bowl use Miracle whip and smash the yolk mixture...or you can place the mixture in a Ziploc bag close it up and cut one corner and squeeze and it will make it look elegant. you can also get some dips already done in walmart and get crackers.
Get a bottle of sprite and fruit punch and mix it together in punch bowl and place some sherbet in it.

You are right on track with having a great wedding reception. People love finger food. Here's my two bits:

1. Kabobs are great, so are mini tarts and mini eclairs. You can get great one at Costco if you are catering yourself. People also like fruit trays -- melon is cheap and great for a diabetic.

2. Have an Italian Soda bar. Go to a restaurant supply store (like a cash n' carry) and buy the syrup -- about $4 a bottle. The recipe is 2 oz syrup, 1 oz cream (if they like), 6 oz soda water and ice. They are great, fun, and people love them at weddings.

3. I love that you are doing finger food; make sure to keep it that way :) Salad require forks...forks cost money...

Best of luck!

I'm going to make a bouquet of chocolate covered strawberries. I got a pretty vase and stick them on wooden skewers I got at the dollar store. I may also make a few fruit ones with watermelon, canteloupe, honeydew and grapes. I use flower cookie cutters and using a mellon ball scooper but a ball in the center of one of the cut out flowers and put on skewer.
